Fine but could probably do better. The ales are in good condition, especially the Silver Adder, but it is a slightly tired showcase for the Mauldon brewery - they didn’t have the firm’s blackberry porter on tap, an ale I have enjoyed previously at a beer festival. The place was very quiet of a Friday night and service quite brusque – a possible reaction to our wearing masks. AFC Sudbury’s FA Cup derby match against Colchester was on the telly so that may be a reason for the pub being quiet. BoehmBawerk - 7 Nov 2021 18:32 |
Decent traditional pub [Black Adder Brewery Tap in full], friendly barmaid, sixeable smoking area at rear. I indulged in Mauldon's 'Silver Adder' a decent ale]. alehippy - 30 Sep 2019 22:06 |

Still the best pub in Sudbury. Snarling_Mallard - 10 Jul 2013 22:30 |
Sadly I had been living in the town for a year before I found this gem. Simple pub, no music, No machines friendly staff, papers and a good range of beer, and guest beers. Also a wheat beer erdinger on tap beautiful drop. can get a bit crowded on Friday and Saturday nights Food is snacks and is not really worth writing about - But they let you bring your own they will give you a plate, knife and fork condiments as well. the perfect local pub TheForger - 17 Jan 2012 07:54 |
