We turned up here after a long walk and having seen the website and expecting a gastropub which would look askance at our muddy boots, we were pleasantly surprised. Pub was quite busy at lunchtime with, I suspect, staff from nearby MacLarens. Three cask ales available, plenty of seating and the staff were friendly - one even enlightening us old codgers about the intricacies of eyebrow threading. Food was good, although as expected it was a little pricey. Knew that before we went in. We all agreed that we'd happily visit here again. ramblethenlunch - 1 Aug 2011 11:50 |
I have had many pleasant evenings at the sands, Carla and the team have ensured my last two birthdays were nights to be remembered and cherished, the professionalism and service to myself and my guests was exceptional... I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, they also have accommodation which is of a very high standard, and reasonable priced nothing is to much trouble and the staff always go the extra mile in taking care of everyone's needs, one of my guest is celiac, and at very short notice a meal was prepared for her..truly excellent !!! The Sands is a very friendly pub - thanks to Carla & her staff - particularly Olly & Sophie. The wines are excellent as is the food. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Definately worth a visit bezlimar - 26 Jan 2009 20:52 |
They do do a good Sunday Roast, but i would agree that it is a little expensive. The place looks nice too, but i found the atmosphere a little lacking. I would go back, but the main thing that puts me off the the price. limab2002 - 15 Dec 2008 16:06 |
