popular pub with the local traveler comunity tinkwinky - 28 Apr 2014 16:58 |
the land lady polly likes to drink to much and as such she tends to slur her words most of the time. if you put music on the juke box that she does not like she will either turn it off or turn it down so you can not hear it. the ale is very hit or miss depending on how drunk she was when it was put on, stick to lager she cant mess it up. DB daniel the barman is the laziest you have ever met he has made it a art form to do nothing and make you wait to get served. so to some up give the place a miss if you drink real ale or like to listen to music on the jukbox. phoneboy - 16 Feb 2012 12:07 |
Burgfield and the surrounding area south-west of central Reading is a bit of a desert as far as good pubs are concerned. In that context this is one of the best ones - a basic old-fashioned village local. Reasonable pint of Pride on my last visit. Friendly enough. As a recent resident in the area I will use this pub, but frankly it's not worth travelling far for. newbury_drinker - 12 Feb 2012 10:21 |
A good few miles out of central Reading but can be done as part of the No.2 Bus Route Pub Crawl as can The Hatch Gate opposite. Beer can be variable. mcroyal - 13 Aug 2010 14:32 |
This is a great pub. Polly the landlady and her ladies make excellent traditional pub grub at sensible prices. Very good guinness. miceman - 1 Apr 2009 21:38 |
