the most dissapointing venue on our valley crawl. nothing wrong with it, but don't go in if you want to drink the best ales. only 2 real ales on tap. much better over the road at Wellington or KIT and Fat Cat. this is mainly a food place, bit too posh for us lot juninhocrunch - 11 Dec 2012 10:56 |
My experience reflects most of those below. Sometimes you get it spot on here, sometimes not. Food is wildly inconsistent - if only they could maintain the quality provided to Jay Rayner upstairs in the restaurant downstairs in the bar. They sometimes do, but not always. Posh lager (Veltins) was great, lamb burger was too, but bavette steak sandwich for well over a tenner was a disgrace. A nice environment but still a bit of a gamble and I will stick to the early bird menu in future. dry_riser_inlet - 6 Jul 2010 01:24 |
I think that The Milestone gastro pub one definitly not to be missed and is well worth travelling to Kelham Island to experience the fantastic food, service and drinks! It not only looks good, it also offers a diverse range of food, from the laid back gastro pub menu downstairs, to a full a la carte menu upstairs. They have an open kitchen and serve exemplary modern British dishes using locally sourced produce the menu also frequently has their own rare breed pigs which are born and raised in Sheffield. The Milestone also makes all their pasta, ice creams, sauces, pickles and bread as well as infusing their spirits! I think The Milestone is a welcome addition to Sheffield and I can't wait to go back! Tracy103 - 20 Jan 2010 16:21 |
Our next pub on our Thursday tour and is always worth popping in to check what real ale is available. Only a couple on usually, but we had Kelham Island Back Beat, a new one for us. It has always been in good condition and there is a varied selection of other beers available to suit all tastes. Food menu always looks good, and they had a game menu this week that looked great. Like I said on another revue, you could eat in most of the pubs on this crawl. The Christmas menu for November and December looked too good to miss with 2 courses for 14.95. I can't comment on quality though as it is one I have never been to for food. gillhalfpint - 18 Oct 2009 11:04 |
Went here for a "special" night out with the g/f. The food was really poor, overpriced and overcooked, in the microwave. How they can justify asking 6.50 for paella tapas that was microwaved to death is beyond me. I have eaten tapas in some of the best places in spain and believe me, this is nowhere near. Do not order the calamari! This was absolutely disgusting and was sent back for the "chef" to past comment. I didn't much like the answer so this was taken off the bill. To cap off a really poor night, the waitress (who was wonderful by the way) commented as we are leaving that they "have had numerous complaints recently". The cheek! Gave the place a score of 1 for the wine menu and ale. One to avoid for food guys. kuiyod - 28 Apr 2008 17:13 |
