| The Old Plough is situated on a bend of the main road through the village of Braunston. There were a few in, with a mix of diners and drinkers. It has a nice garden away from the road at the rear too. The ale selection was the better of the two village pubs - Greene King Barmy Arms & Citrus IPA, Orkney/Belhaven Kittiwake & Grainstore Baby Beast. The latter was just about the only dark ale I found in my 10 Rutland pubs. So I was grateful for that. But unfortunately there was no real cider. blue_scrumpy - 14 Aug 2017 20:05 |
| Had an excellent meal here (four of us) on a Sunday evening when food is often harder to find. Some dishes (from a varied and well-priced menu) were "sold out" but that's because many items are home-made and they'd had a busy weekend. Service was quick and friendly and the beer (I had Black Sheep bitter) was in excellent condition. This is a clean and well-run village pub, not a smart restaurant - and all the better for it.
