| Visited on a recent weekday evening. Each side of the bar has two hand pumps, at the time of my visit Unicorn and Voodoo Dawn appeared to be on. Not sure I have ever sampled the Voodoo Dawn so decided to try it, only to be told it was not available. The barmaid didn't turn the pump clip round though, strangely, so I had to settle for a pint of Unicorn which was, I have to say, not the best. Very quiet on my visit, and there was a Champions League game on the TV with commentary in what appeared to be some East European language. | Landlord was friendly and enthused about real ale (selection of CAMRA magazines were available to read). Robinsons house offering Unicorn and the seasonal Robinsons ale. Also had bottled Old Tom. | Cracking selection of beers in cluding bottled "Old Tom" handily placed and away from some of the more popular plastic pubs. Only drawback was the guy who sat in the corner nursing a single pint for the hour we were in there and tutted and put his fingers in his ears every time one of our party dared to speak above a whisper, even though we'd probably spent more cash in there in an hour than he had in a month. The clue's in the title, it's a PUBLIC house. Still gripe over, I pop into this place every time I'm in Sale and the landlord always makes you welcome. boddies_drinker - 30 Jun 2008 13:33 |
