A planned stop on a mid-May beer tour of Sheffield, this pub was reportedly shut down some weeks before my arrival, following several months of increasingly erratic opening times (according to the staff of the Hillsborough Hotel up the street and the customers at the Wellington down the street). seumas - 31 May 2009 03:35 |
Large pub wih two big rooms around a central bar, located slap-bang in the middle of the 'ale-trail'. There were three beers on offer when I went on a Saturday night. The Bombardier was vinegar so we were happily given advice on other drinks to choose, which were much better. Strangely empty, nay dead, at 10.45pm on a Saturday compared to the surrounding pubs. Pool table in the back room. Carlurmston - 20 Oct 2008 13:19 |
I called in to this old pub on the main blue tram route towards Hillsborough, and enjoyed a Castle Rock and Wentworth beer. I had been in January on my last visit to Sheffield. The pub has been having renovations done, and the windows have been done since my last visit. The beer prices here are the cheapest I have come across with one of the beers at 1.10 a pint. Both excellent quality too. Deserves to be on the real ale trail. Not far from the Hillsborough Hotel. gillhalfpint - 10 Feb 2008 11:52 |
