Fairly upmarket pub that has a heavy focus on food, whilst also catering for drinkers. Whilst we did not sample the Victorian Dining Room, we did have a meal in the bar which was fairly nice. There are plenty of staff. It was amazing how they all manaaged to fit behind the bar. Beers on were all from Norfolk or Suffolk - Adnams Bitter & Sole Star & Woodfordes Nelson's, Wherry & Once Bittern. I believe the cider was Aspalls. Nice enough pub where families are welcome. blue_scrumpy - 25 Feb 2013 21:00 |
*Warning* Do not visit this pub. Just back from the Bird in Hand at Wreningham, where we thought we would for lunch to to see off an old colleague. Three words best describe this place: Rude - Expensive - Disappointing. Once we got there and a round of drinks, we took our table and got our menus. After deciding what we wanted, we sat and waited...only to be told by other patrons you need to order at the bar. Fair enough. So we ordered our food, a bowl of olives to start. And waited. And waited. And waited. A waitress came by and we mentioned the olives. She seemed very put out, and went off to find them. Came back, and when she did, my colleague asked if she could get a diet coke (we had a tab) She snapped "You order at the bar. Ok?" Somewhat shocked at this, we did as she said. And waited some more for our food. When it finally came out - 40 minutes after ordering, the steak baguette was cold, and the duck dishes didnt warrant the 13 price tag. Oh sorry, forgot to mention, you serve yourself cutlery too. When we finished the barmaid wanted rid of us quickly. Kitchen shuts at 2, she exclaimed, kitchen shuts at 2! How many times did she say this to us we lost count - did they want our business or what? We ordered our food at 12:45 and it didnt come out till 1:30! The meal itself - olives, 2 ducks, 1 steak baguette and a mushroom parcel thing came to a whopping 64. Do not go to this place. It's a rip off staffed by people who need a lesson in proper customer service. Such a shame. stoopish - 6 Apr 2011 16:30 |

This a family run country pub and restaurant we discovered in February this year and we have been regular visitors since. A well stocked bar of fine wines, six real ales; four lagers, Guinness and Cider on draught. Wide variety of food all locally sourced (where possible) prepared and cooked on the premises by top local chefs is disgustingly good and a specials board to tempt you upon entering. Good ambience; extremely friendly staff under the guidance of 'Lizzie' really is the Inn place to be - the real nub of the local community. richardbanks743 - 30 Jun 2009 10:28 |
Interesting. It is a shadow of its former self (from about 8 years back), it is rather expensive and the atmosphere is as flat as a pancake. I will always love this pub though for the sole reason that I spent some of the best years of my life in it and made a great deal of friends there amongst the regulars (when it had some). Beer is terrible apparently, an insider informed us because the lines are only cleaned when landlord can be bothered. My friends boyfriend had a pint of lager that smelled of rotten eggs... anonymous - 15 Feb 2008 12:39 |
