Previous reviewers must have had the bad luck not to go on a Sunday - extensive three-course menu for 9.95! You can't go wrong. We've just got back from there today - my tomato and basil soup starter was rich and flavourful, roast pheasant actually tasted gamey, a rarity in this part of the world I've found, and proper sticky toffee pudding with custard was wonderful. Mr Porcupine equally impressed with his potted shrimp, roast beef and apple pie. A gorgeous little country pub with good English food. Best to book on Sundays though. blueporcupine - 22 Nov 2009 19:19 |
I would agree with both of the previous comments here. This is a beautiful pub and is well worth a visit, certainly better than its current rating. The interior and cosy little rooms and nooks are soemthing else, and the ales are high quality. However, the food prices are astronomical- 15 for an average main meal and around 25 for a steak. Come here for a drink only, you won't be disappointed. Carlurmston - 17 Aug 2008 22:13 |
Food WAY overpriced!!!! anonymous - 5 Nov 2007 12:27 |
Ramshackle and meandering country pub set in a little chicance just off the A49 a few miles south of Warrington. It does decent food and has real ales. Outside there is a large garaden and bowling green, but the pub really comes into its own in the winter nonths whne its cosy little nooks and crannies transofmr it into a classic English country pub. anfieldjet - 25 Oct 2007 17:15 |
