Great place years ago but has turned into a wine bar setup, not a lot of atmosphere at the weekend and very expensive, deals to be had early in the week when there is a student night, only worth a score of about 3 but due to the student nights (I am not a student!) I give it a 5 Porkling - 6 Sep 2009 14:07 |
Not a big fan of this place. A strange setting; a mixture of restaurant style seating and sofas. Overpriced drinks (3.20 glass of small wine) which are the sorts of prices you expect in nicer establishments. Not a great atmosphere, and I found quite uncomfortable with the manner of the landlord who obviously loves having young ladies in his bar. Bar staff very friendly though, and quite a spacious place. Maybe ok for a drink, but I wouldnt wan tto stay any longer. fran - 8 Jul 2008 16:15 |
This place has been re-decorated, it's gone quite cold and clinical. They serve Guiness Red here as well as extra cold, the Guiness Red tasted different to when I tried it in O'Neils. Good service with a chatty barmaid, great outdoor facilities and close to the town center. My experience was only spoiled by three locals who had arranged themselves at the bar and bottle necked others being served. We thought they had left so sat at the bar ourselves, only to find that they had just gone out for a cigarette. On returning one of them pushed my chair forward as if to tip me out, he then backed up this gesture with some stares and a few 'effing's. Won't be going there again. Typically it's another case of the people that spoil a place and not the pub or landlord themselves. steve - 19 Dec 2007 12:17 |
