Happy, friendly staff. Great open fire. Pool table. Decent food. Smoking area could do with a heater and they don't serve "Dark Fruits" (That's the cider, not gays with a suntan) but apart from that, a great place for a few pints. Bert_Crumpet - 18 Feb 2018 02:47 |
The White Hart is right at the centre of this small town. It still has accommodation and there is a nice lounge area near the hotel's reception. The public bar is where most people go though and it has more of a pub feel. Although the music seemed a touch too loud for a Sunday evening. The barman was welcoming. 3 ales were on - Arkells 3B & Wiltshire Gold & Donnington On The Nose. blue_scrumpy - 27 Mar 2017 19:30 |
We visited on the Sunday evening after Christmas, and there was just three drinkers when we arrived. This pub can't seem to make up its mind whether it wants to be a youth venue, or a more traditional inn trading on its historic heritage. It seems to be favouring the former, as there is a pool table dominating one end of the bar, and the two screens at the time of our visit had the Ibiza Rocks festival blaring out, albeit not at a deafening volume. There were 3 real ales from the Arkells brewery of Swindon - 3Bs, Moonlight and Wiltshire Gold. These are fine beers, but unfortunately the 3Bs and the Wiltshire Gold were flat and lifeless, and the 3Bs had a slightly sour after-taste. However, it's worth a visit and hopefully you will find that the beer is fresher than on our visit. Number11 - 30 Dec 2013 17:07 |
Myself and a work colleague popped in here on Saturday afternoon. The place was fairly busy. Like 'forestwood' in the previous post, I had never tried Arkell's beers before. We tried the '3B' as well and it was outstanding!! The place was busy and was showing 'legitimate' Sky Sports!!! Now there's a rarity. Great place, friendly barmaid (she may have been the manageress in all fairness) and you were made to feel welcome. 10/10 from me!! As other 'posters' have said, visit this pub/hotel, you will not be dissapointed!!! wolvesfan - 30 Sep 2012 19:14 |
