Visited last week and was very impressed. Beer quality excellent and found the place so welcoming and friendly decided to eat there. Was not dissappointed as the food was delicious and plentiful. Having read the one really bad review I was a bit dubious but I often suspect one bad review among several good ones is a local rival. What say you? rinfav - 4 Apr 2016 12:53 |
Pleased to say that the excellent standards of food and service were still evident when we returned twice last week...I had the roast beef and Banoffi pie each time as they were so delicious first time round. Good value too, one course 8.95, andn if you have pud or starter , only 10.95.Add another 2 for three courses. SILVERARROW - 6 Sep 2009 15:43 |
Excellent accommodation, beer and food. Suggest it's a good idea to check out opening times though, before visiting. biggles221 - 30 Jul 2009 21:11 |
Shocking customer service. Would advise others to stay away from this pub. After driving for nearly 3 hours on a Friday night to stay in the pub for two nights, we arrived to be told that they had a booking for one night only. Straight away the blame was put on ourselves and no attempt at an apology made. The manager, who was dealing with us, showed a total lack of interest and people skills. Obviously they could make more money out of larger parties who had come for the Gran Prix at Silverstone and so we believe bumped our booking! angel77 - 21 Jun 2009 20:28 |
It was nice to come back here again, after not visiting for a few years. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was lovely, and generous portions. I would recommend the treacle tart which was very treacley, and more of a deep-fill pie than a tart! The Hooky Best and Old Hooky were both on. The Old Hooky was nice, but there was something slighly different about the taste to usual. Perhaps it was just fresh from a new barrel. If I didn't know the beer quite well, I probably wouldn't have noticed, as it wasn't unpleasant, just a little bit different. Perhaps I should have checked it with another pint. Sadly, I had to go before I could do that. I shall save the second pint for another time, instead, and shall certainly come back again. sloe_jane - 14 Sep 2008 23:27 |
