Busy, small pub on the market. Always feel a bit of an outsider there. Served Bombardier fine. southlondonbeero - 5 Feb 2017 10:57 |
Was at the elephant and castle about a year ago. I thought it was rough pub, and was made to feel very unwelcome. hushpuppy_3 - 16 Oct 2013 11:12 |
Market pub serving pretty poor real ale in deteriorating surroundings. The Courage Best was ok. But the Shepherd Neame Spitfire tasted like vinegar. There are some murals on the walls and a few items of Charlton FC memorabilia. However, look above this and the mould dominates. A pool table dominates one end of the bar, which is actually quite small. Seems to attract some of the more interesting members of society too. blue_scrumpy - 28 Aug 2012 20:21 |
Can be a bit of a nuthouse at times. Attracts the rough end (not hard knocks) of woolwich clientele. They wiil serve you till you drop! Can still be a good laugh though. Plenty of characters to observe/have a crack with. teesman61 - 30 Jul 2010 13:08 |
Came here a couple of times in 2003 hunting for a pint of Brains Bitter as it's the only regular outlet in the SE of England. The E&C is a market traders pub so is allowed to open at 7 in the morning. Not much character (and no bar food) but the Brains is cheap. A plain and simple working class local.
