Walked here on Saturday afternoon from Appletreewick via Linton Falls to find a beautifully situated C18 pub with whitewashed walls and olive-coloured seating overlooking the village green and Linton Beck beyond. The snug is in reality no more than an area formed by a few high-backed settles but we had it to ourselves as most people were sitting outside or in the rear dining room. The house Fountaine Ale (Robinsons Unicorn) was good and cost £4.80; other handpulls were Dark Horse Craven Bitter and Hetton Pale Ale and Robinsons Dizzy Blonde.

After the Clarendon Hotel at Hebden (not listed on here), this was our 5th pub of the day in the Dales. It was the busiest of the lot, with what seemed like a party on in one room. But it was spilling out into the main bar area and the lovely outside area to the front. Looks like it has a bit of character. But it was too busy to really enjoy. Ales were Thwaites Original, John Smiths Cask, Tetleys Cask, Morland Old Speckled Hen, Wharfedale Blonde & Fountaine Inn IPA. Plenty of families were visiting.

Wonderful setting on the village green overlooking the stream that was in full flow after lots of rain. Four or five good ales to choose from and cosy interiors.

Lovely pub. We had a beer brewed locally for the pub and some very good food. Our (well-behaved) dog was welcomed into the tiled bar area and much admired. We'll be back soon!

A little over a year ago I complained in a post about indisciplined children at The Fountaine.
Evidently the management of the pub dont read posts on beerintheevening for whilst I was in the pub last Saturday afternoon a group of parents brought five young children into the bar area and promptly sat a two year old on the bar.I believe this is against the law.
I may be of the Victor Meldrew generation, but I do not go into pubs over-run by brats, whose parents seem to be incapable of controlling them.
Although I live in walking distance of the pub I am put off going to it because of this continuing problem
