| The Black Lion a very good, friendly, local drinking pub in the heart of High Roding. The pub has lots of character and a good selection of lagers and ales. The pool table has gone and the 'Sports Bar' is made out for watching big sporting events. The food is good pub grub. Well worth a short stop when driving between Ongar and Dunmow. | This pub is run by a personable young man principally for his friends. The pool table destroyed the saloon bar. Accommodation for smokers is non-existent. Food is variable but well-priced. | The Black lion is a friendly pub in the heart of the little village of High Roding. It is a fourteenth century coaching inn of some character. It serves a good Sunday lunch and the choices includes the usual snacks, a kids menu and a specials board with several options.
