Popular Germanesque beer hall with good, well-priced food in small dishes. I believe it was designed in the 20s/30s. Dark wooden benches and tables. Old pictures and various sayings about beer in Italian on the walls. The table cloths give you a potted history in both Italian and English. I'm not a big fan of the standard Italian beers but I did enjoy them in here. The standard Peroni was not for me, the Nastro Azzuro hit the spot (probably down to the weather outside)which surprised me as I've never enjoyed one before and may never again!! The Doppio Malto Gran Riserva was very nice, and the Red wasn't bad either. Service was friendly and excellent, they were on the ball. Overall, I'd say I really enjoyed this place. A nice lunchtime experience and change from the standard cafe bars around Rome. Local workers eat here but I think they do get some tour groups coming too. Stylish and fun and the best beer I tasted in Rome. mitomighty - 22 Sep 2006 14:38 |
