Certainly a very pleasant looking place and the garden is excellent for catching the evening sun. However we were a bit disappointed that they didn't start doing food until 6pm and as there seemed to be a few people in the pub at the time we felt this was a waste so we had a few then left. A decent place in a nifty location, quite expensive though. 7/10 montie49 - 9 Sep 2015 09:57 |
I have been mulling over whether to give this pub my first ever 10 out of 10 and, yes it is worth it. Having a new owner of less than 2 months this pub is what an English pub should be complete with log fire, easy ambiance and food that will remain in the memory for a very long time (I had the locally caught Gurnard). If I was to be ultra critical it would be to say that the food service was a little chaotic but when I pointed this out, (we had waited 45 minutes for coffees and liquers) these were delivered on the house. The staff also did not know much about the dishes on the menu but I am sure that this will come in time. The real ales were Doom Bar 3.20 and a week Otter 3.10 - I hate paying over 3 but look - this is a fabulous place to visit just of the M5 services. It is an easy walk from the travelodge if you are staying there. I look forward to going back THATOLDMAN - 18 Dec 2011 16:40 |
What a shame the staff are so unable to give a welcome or good service. The food was ok but given the recent refurb and the money spent on marketing the owners JJ Leisure should be more aware of the impression left on local customers, Won't be returning. Didn't even get a reply to my comments on our evening sent via their website. Presume intercepted by staff as office at the pub! Still, maybe they will read this. johnand - 15 Sep 2008 08:30 |
