We came across this place by mistake looking for somewhere to eat and its turned into our local. The landlady - Lorna and staff are really friendly and chat to anyone. They serve good wine, a choice of cask ales for the hubby and welcome children which is few and far between around here. It was refurbed recentlyand had a pool table and jukebox put in. Inside it looks like a smart traditional pub with stone flooring and large open windows. The food menu is simple but good value.‎ westyuk1 - 4 Aug 2010 15:15 |
Just re-opened - new landlady is Lorna - she's lovely, give her a chance and go visit especially if you are a student hoping to achieve a third. Pubspymaster - 23 Mar 2010 19:34 |
Alas, the Pub Co running the 3 Tuns went bust and the pub is shuttered/closed. The scaffholding (repairs were insisted upon by the Council - bit like that card you get in Monopoly) is still up and looking around the area, there's not much hope for the future of this historic (and in former times excellent) hostelry. Within just a few hundred metres are 4 other pubs boarded up/up for sale. And all of this in a city with 3 universities. Exactly what are we supposed to think that the 25,000 odd students do of an evening? Study? I should say not! Can't be the recession, as the 10 to get in/5 a drink bars are packed to the gunwhales. Pity the poor struggling traditional pub then. MrCheeky - 7 Apr 2009 13:35 |
Amazing building, a bit higgledy piggledy but loads of different 'rooms' to sit in. Very much under used. aescinga - 27 Dec 2008 13:25 |
