A pub very much geared up as a restaurant. There is a bar and people were just drinking, but food is the main theme. Our meal was generally pretty good with fresh and tasty fish for the main courses. The desserts were slightly disappointing as they were probably shop bought. The wine list was interesting and we had a delicious spanish white which was one of the house wines. Real ales were available, but the management have chosen not to favour the excellent west country breweries. Instead the beers are sourced from Chiswick (Pride), Bedford (Courage Best) and Bury St Edmunds (Speckled Hen). Overall, we enjoyed it and the staff were friendly and attentive. Good Beer, OK atmosphere. Food not worth bothering about - took an hour to come, then was very poor standard (oily meat, veg nuked to death). We complained twice but nobody was interested and we just paid and left. Spoiled a birthday meal for 6 of us. Dartmoorhikers - 31 Jan 2007 20:53 |
