Beers mostly from local breweries in this upmarket, modern-feeling pub. Hydes, Lees and Timothy Taylor all featured. Small unobtrusive TV with SSN and an emphasis on dining. It's open plan, with one long bar room with mixed furnishings. Generally a pleasant atmopshere all round, would return.

A good selection of real ales are usually available from this Good Beer Guide listed pub. Prices are slightly above average for the area and it can be hard to get served when busy (small bar & regulars first). Basic pub meals served. Small outdoor terrace by Car Park. Joins in as host pub for the big Saddleworth events (Rushcart, Beer Walk etc) Brass bands perform concerts alternate Summer Sunday afternoons in the car park (The Diggle Hotel at Diggle hosts the bands the alternating Sundays.)

Enjoyed both the real ales sampled while doing a crawl round by bus visiting Good Beer Guide pubs and any others we fancied in the villages visited.

While I do drink in here occasionally, mainly due to the good beer and decent food, a couple of times I've been cold-shouldered at the bar and left standing around for a good ten minutes while the bar lady serves her mates first. Despite the fact that we are local, we joke about it being a 'local pub for local people' sometimes. Not enough to stop us going in, but it's little things like that that can get a puba reputation
