A very peculiar layout, but then it is a heritage building. Very well presented, and occasionally host to a Saturday night Quiz. This usually means having to book a table in advance, but free hot nibbles are provided! fluteboy - 12 Mar 2016 23:48 |
Drab, tired and somewhat unwelcoming. The last comments mention a refurb - ok, they are dated 2007 but do pubs go downhill that fast??Just moved to the area and popped in with the family, including small dog. Served by man who was happy to take our order and money, no mention of dog. Woman comes to bar and tells us we must sit outside with dog (unlike Falcon Inn at Fotheringay which allows well dogs in small side bar - which is possible at the Cross Keys). It's a country pub where loads of people are out walking with their dogs so why no provision? Been told by neighbours that the food is average and overpriced so looks like will have to drive to Apethorpe or Fotheringay in future. stgervais - 27 Jan 2014 21:54 |
I recently visited The Cross Keys Inn at Kings Cliffe and was pleasantly suprised to find a traditional Freehouse and not a Gastro Pub, just a Real Pub serving Real Food with Real Beers. They offer a wide selection of Cask Ales as well as Lagers and other favourites. The food was excellent and the Home made Steak & Ale Pie I would highly recommend. So if you are bored of pubs that are not pubs anymore, I suggest you put this one top of your list. DonQuiote - 19 Apr 2007 17:45 |
The comment about the Cross Keys in Kings Cliffe is inaccurate, I think Amarok is confused with the Cross Keys on Oundle Road in Peterborough. The Cross Keys in Kings Cliffe I found to be a very friendly, family run business that has been in the same hands for almost 13 years. They serve good old fashioned pub meals with excellent home cooked specials changing on a daily basisT The beer is kept in perfect condition with a good selection of real ales, keg beers and lagers. All in all well worth a visit, as you are made to feel very welcome indeed. anonymous - 10 Apr 2007 17:22 |
after a re-vamp and new management the Cross Keys is definately one to visit! Just out of town, lovely locals, friendly staff and interested management from John and Theresa. Amarok - 15 Feb 2007 23:01 |
