Pleasant pub-restaurant in this idyllic small village north of Oxford. A Charles Wells house, so the range was limited, but the Eagle IPA went down well nonetheless. The church opposite adds to the tweeness, and if you can get over the cars coursing along the road if sitting outside the front, then this is a worthwhile detour from the hit-and-miss pubs of Bladon and Long Hanborough. Awarded this a four because when we ran there they'd got no beer. The barman told us that a wedding party for the church opposite had nearly drunk the place dry before the wedding, and returned after the wedding to finish the job, the day before; and that apparently was before they went to the reception. oxford_hasher - 26 Sep 2010 16:43 |
A very good local pub restaurant, very friendly, very good service, would have liked to see chairs a bit more comfortable as have arthritus problems and not all chairs very comfortable for too long a sit, food very good, but shame menu not changed more frequently, as if you go quite often, gets a bit boring seeing the same menu and a bit more varied choice would be nice, but all in all a good alround place to go on a Saturday night. glad they allow smoking, good for them. Always good food, service and atmosphere. A more up-market pub that has a bar menu/section which is warm and has good food. Or you can go for the restaurant, which is slightly downstairs and built into an old barn (I think), but light and airy. Food is excellent and I like to go there when I want my meal to be a bit more special, or take visitors from overseas to a good, slightly more classy, English pub. jgp - 30 Dec 2006 17:16 |
