The inside is quite unexpected after looking at the fairly conventional outside. Inside is an odd collection of rooms. The front bar is decorated to one side as an upmarket village inn with the usual horse brasses and blackened timbers, the other is like stepping into someones well appointed library. Comfy seats and open fires with formal dining set aside in the library. A large range of kegged products, John Smith and Tetley extra cold, Carlsberg, Fosters and 1664 lagers plus Strongbow cider and both versions of Guinness. The beer side is rather let down by mediocre Black Sheep and John Smiths cask. Reasonably priced drinks and food for the area, friendly staff and locals, efficient service if a little effusive. I was overcharged by 5 on my bill though. anonymous - 2 Feb 2009 08:59 |
This is a lovely country pub in a pleasant village. We always call here when getting the boat from Hull. The steak in ale pie is baked while you wait. Proper crust, home made chips. Fantastic. Very pleasant young staff. Good choice of real ales. I wish it was nearer home! TrapperJim - 30 Dec 2006 19:27 |
