This place re-opened some time ago now and is called Aces and Eights. The Spanish tapas theme has gone (thankfully) and it's now a kind of upmarket rock n roll bar. Personally I like it a lot better than Bar Lorca, which was just pretentious. This suits the area better too IMO. I don't know if they play music off a juke box or an ipod but they play some great stuff in here across the whole spectrum - I've heard tracks in here I haven't heard for years or have never heard at all. Food is now just pizzas (I think) but I haven't eaten here. Friendly staff and free Wifi. puppyfeat - 4 Nov 2010 12:40 |

Great place! the music is great and the staff is fantastic. Food is awesome, amazing serrano ham and tortillas! churfer - 19 Nov 2009 14:15 |
I have to agree that the service needs improving as four staff took four minutes to serve three people. I can never understand why bar staff carry on cleaning glasses when there are people waiting to be served. Especially when the place is almost empty so there is no way that they are running out of glasses. San Miguel, Heineken, Amstel and Guinness are normally available on draught, but on my visit at 19:30 on a Friday evening the Heineken and Amstel were both off. I ordered a San Miguel and nearly dropped it as the pint glass was covered with melting ice. On the plus side, the barman that served me was apologetic about the lack of lager and the place is relaxed and, from what I experienced, has a decent clientele base. I wouldnt want to stay here all night, but as mentioned before, this would be ok for a late drink. Strongers - 9 Dec 2008 08:50 |
Bar is well stocked with interesting drinks but I have to say that the bar service was really poor. Bar staff were more interested with hanging out with their mates than serving and appearing remotely interested in their paying clients. Really poor in terms of customer satisfaction. azzabaj - 22 Aug 2008 01:01 |
