Pub with enormous grounds leading down to the river Great Ouse - very pleasant. Lots of rabbits - watch out for the holes they make. Good selection of ale. Friendly staff - very helpful. Disabled (wheelchair) access to garden with assistance. Disabled access to the inside is very good. Maybe we hit a bad day but the food was poor. I had the cod and chips. The cod was overdone and from the freezer, the chips had been cooked at least twice and the mushy peas were quite extraordinary, the bread and butter was a crust partially spread with something. MY friend had the shepherd's pie with fresh vegetables. The pie was almost all potatoe and the meat was tasteless. the new potatoes which were unnecessary were under cooked andthe fresh vegetabbles were frozen sweet corn. The cost was far too much for such poor fare. The menu was far too adventurous and was entirely nbased on pre cooked food. Rating 7 without the food, 1 with Nanook99 - 29 Jul 2006 14:46 |
