The 500 years of hospitality must have ended the night I walked in and was not greeted or acknowledged by the miserable buxom spectacled barmaid who served up a fresh pint of vinegar and tutted when I made comment about how undrinkable it was. Not very good first impressions I am afraid. rogerthedodger - 29 Jul 2014 19:59 |
Still a good pub but menu needs to be more varied, this is evidenced by the fact that I used to go twice a year, once in May and once in September and both times and any other times the menus have been almost identical, sometimes offering very small choice to the dieter, poor of pocket or vegeterian, still at least you know what you're going to get I suppose. Toilets clean, staff pleasant, some times a long wait but is all freshly cooked, worth the journey and price, just be sure to book, also don't book a table in the conservatory if there's only two of you, as its either very noisy and no-one can hear a thing or quite quiet and you daren't speak. jojo85 - 4 Feb 2009 10:21 |
Food is fantastic. Booking required weeks in advance on a Sunday . tortoise68 - 18 Feb 2008 13:07 |
Agree with below - Good pub. Get there early to avoid being turned away, but worth going! Food nice. Gallen - 6 Aug 2007 17:23 |
Suberb food and drinks. Used to have a more diverse spirit selection, but due to lack of demand, this has dwindled. No decent Cognac or Calvados anymore, which is a shame. Yevad - 14 Jul 2007 15:18 |
