Unfortunately if you haven't visited this pub before you're out of luck as it closed in March 2010. Lamented locally as it's another pub gone, but had lost its way over recent years and had become a Chinese takeaway with a bar in front. So farewell then Bag and Dibber, Engineer, Prince of Prussia, Britannia, George and Freeman - all (apparently) names that this pub had over the years. Probably going to be flats for students. mansfields1964 - 14 Sep 2010 20:40 |

This pub is a non - smoking one, and so if you like a place where your not drowned in smoke and can taste your food then this is a place for you. The beers are adequate, staff are friendly, but the meal we had there one lunchtime was the best pub meal we have ever had. There were loads of proper vegetables..Broccolli, cauliflower, leeks, none of the usual spoonful of peas. Theres not really much space, but the atmosphere is good. Definitely worth a visit. woggler - 27 Oct 2006 08:08 |
Has been refurbished and attracts students from the university, and is therefore good value. Standard beers! Not a huge fan, the mitre just down the road is a better bet but maybe not on a Friday night when packed with kids! cannon1882 - 27 Aug 2006 17:36 |
