Went for Sunday lunch - not impressed. 2 slices of roast beef and insipd gravy were almost cold as was the very limp yorkshire pudding. "Roast " potatoes were new potatoes covered in oil (fried?) and very very tough. Other veg. was nearly raw broccoli and overdone carrots - all on a cold plate. No attempt to make the food look appetizing apart from some dort of salad leaves under the gravy. prices were very high for what we had certainly higher than those on the website. Service slow -diners on another table had cards with them to whjke away the time! Favourable reviews must have been written by friends of the owner. AVOID denwaller - 20 Aug 2012 01:22 |
Just had Sunday lunch with the family here today. First impressions were that the pub was very nice and clean. Barmaid was friendly. Would be nice if they gave you a print-off of the menu so that you didnt all have to leave the table to look at the board for starters as well as specials. Waiter was nice. Starters came up in good time and were of good quality. All enjoyed. However this is when it all went downhill. The Sunday Roasts were very dissapointing. The beef came without Yorkshire Puddings, which was a blessing as there were two with the vegetarian roast which came straight from a freezer pack. The waiter was kind enough to bring extra vegetables but this was a mix of tasteless green beans and carrots and soggy bland leeks. Very odd. By far the worst part were the "Roast Potatoes" which were also from the freezer. How hard is it to peel and roast real potatoes? The Desert choice was very poor with at least 3 items being just ice cream. However the final insult was when they brought the bill over but somehow "forgot" that they had already charged us 100.00 deposit. We were about to pay the bill when we asked if the deposit had been taken into account and were told they had made a mistake and not deducted it. Customers BEWARE. familydiner - 18 Jul 2010 21:55 |
Visited this establishment 3 weeks ago on a Thursday evening with my wife. Without a doubt the food is excellent with very nice surroundings. Nice selection of beers. Could not believe how busy the place was for a Thursday. Will definately be going there again soon. kildareking72 - 10 Jul 2008 22:43 |
Blindingly good food. Excellent beer. Quiz evenings and a nice family run pub. Recommend the Sunday Lunches. More than enough to eat in smoke free surroundings. Worth seeking out and trying the real ales especially on a sunny day before a Sunday lunch Nthkentman - 26 Mar 2007 20:06 |
