Went there on a Thurs night a couple of weeks ago. Staff very pleasant. Beer (Arkells) in good nick and a fair price. Had a very good meal there with friends and had a most enjoyable time. Live group played in Bar area and as they were a more "mature" bunch they played some fine Rock without getting too heavy or loud! Stayed overnight in one of the superb hotel rooms in a separate block as we were travelling on to Dorset. £60 for B&B in one of those rooms was a fantastic end to our stay. Will definitely be back again when in the area. brewmaster54 - 4 May 2014 23:39 |
Went in here on Sunday for Sunday roast, upon arrival we were greeted by a pleasent young man who brought us to our table and then took orders for drinks whilst we looked at the menu, all good the chap took our order with genuine care and we felt happy, shortly after our food arrived served by a young lady and therafter things went a little pearshaped i.e she served the big bowl of veg etc, but did not have a serving spoon, we had to hunt for mint sauce for our lamb roast but could find any, the young lady never did a check back so we could not ask for any more item, at the end we were given our bill, with out selling up of desserts or coffee which we probably would have ordered if offered to to us so all in all a mixed feeling of our visit, yes the food was good enough and priced just about right, I thinkl if they can up the customer a bit then that would make a huge difference, would I go back, yes probably notsobitterman - 7 May 2013 13:20 |
Arkells house. Pleasant pub right next to Coate Water country park, family orientated (big garden and play area). Gets a bit of a bad write up in the local press for its food but every time I've been in it's been more than adequate. Large non-smoking area, karaoke on a Sunday night, Strongbow & Stowford cider available, beer apparently well kept, & friendly bar staff & management to boot. All round pleasant experience, especially in the summer. SW6 - 23 Aug 2006 06:55 |
