Nice little pub easily located on the A6 corridor. We had a Thwaites Nutty Black which was good. The place looked like it would be good for food, but we weren't stopping for food. In fact it felt more a place you would go for food rather than just for a drink, as there was a slight restaurant vibe to the set up and lay out of the place. Would go back again if the occasion called for it. Recommended if you're stopping in the area. georgefox - 30 Sep 2014 23:08 |
Food issues mentioned in 2007 reviews have clearly been solved. Went in last week: good beer, good atmosphere, and good food reasonably priced. Menu was pub standard but very well done, while the specials were more interesting and imaginative for those of us who like that. We will definitely be going back soon. Falkenna - 6 Apr 2014 22:05 |
went in last weekend for a quick drink as I heard they now sell good ale. it's true, they had 4 ales on and well worth popping in. nice interior and friendly atmosphere. useful as a stop off point on the Buxton railway line. Another option would be to do a walk from here to White Lion in Disley along the canal - these are the two good pubs in the area - and get the train back juninhocrunch - 4 Jan 2013 11:02 |
The beer is good, but I and my partner had the most bizarre meal at this pub recently, accompanied by lots of cursing from the chef in the kitchen. It is friendly, but the menu is pretentious in the extreme, and the chef on the day we visited was just not up to it. There is a good Chinese restaurant next door, and I would recommend eating there, and having a pint in the pub. alkohole - 15 Mar 2007 13:48 |
The Pub changed hands July/August 2006. Now serves decent food Tuesday to Sunday. Good selection of lagers, San Miguel & Coors on draft. Friendly pub. Jim_Evo2 - 7 Feb 2007 00:15 |
