| I went there yesterday (14/11/10) for lunch, thought i,d give it a go, it was awful to say the least there was children sat on the tables whilst people were eating the large screen tv,s were playing football constantly, when a member of the bar staff was asked to change channel on the tv so that F1 could be watched he came out with the biggest load of guff i had ever heard, it was just so full of mummies and daddies with their offspring i thought we had stumbled upon a creche and it was only 12:15 am the beer was mediocre and pricey, as were the soft drinks, drank up quickly and left, if you like rude and arrogant bar staff, football and pricey beer then go to the bulls head, me i will avoid it like the plague. sallysfriend - 15 Nov 2010 08:59 |
| Attractive pub in a good location, but seems to have gone downhill over the past few years. On a recent visit, at a time when one might have expected it to be busy, it was virtually deserted. Only one cask beer on - Unicorn - which was warm, tired and lacklustre. Heatonian - 28 Jul 2010 16:44 |

| Well, it looks like the John Bonser roadshow is the first to comment on this pub. The Bulls Head is a large Robinsons pub in the village of Hale Barns, a mile or so away from Altrincham. Hale Barns is definitely very Cheshire ( as opposed to Greater Manchester ) and the pub has a rather upmarket feel to it. It seems to be the only pub in the village and as such seems to be trying to cater for everyone - local pub for the locals, restaurant / dining area for the food trade, all in one large single bar that has that typically contrived rustic feel to it. There's a crown bowling green to the rear of the pub and I was able to watch the Cheshire set competing in a local match as the evening sun was setting in the background. There's a lodge type annexe offering accommodation at reasonable rates. THe Bulls Head appears to be one of Robinson's flagship establishments - it features prominently on the cover of their pub guide. I quite enjoyed the visit - its about a mile or so away from the Manchester Airport Marriott where I was staying on business recently and where of course real ale is notable by its absence.
