Lovely pub, but a bored bar person. I quite like Sam Smith's Brewery Bitter, and I love the work they do on interiors, but some of the people they hire need smiling lessons. Very quiet, only 3 or 4 customers including me, and all were hushed, like in church. Queenslander - 23 Sep 2014 23:36 |
Visited as part of a hectic pub crawl. You better like Sam Smiths, but this place still looks like a pub and you cant always say that in Bristol fiveleaves41 - 22 Mar 2014 19:22 |
Ale OK - Food awful! For a drink a lovely old fashioned pub but badly let down by badly microwaved food, burnt chips and frozen veg. Not hard to get right? We witnessed food being returned but did not learn from it!! Our mistake. Will not ear there again, their next door neighbour (The Volunteer) was 100 times better. barbaraane - 2 Mar 2014 18:19 |
What's more than a little concerning is that the pub is currently being refurbished. This place had the most beautiful interior and we can only hope it is not going to be ruined by naive and unsympathetic renovation. I used to love the 'snugs' in here, let's hope they remain. Hopefully the pub will remain largely as it was although looking at the way other old Bristol pubs have been treated by landlords with poor vision and understanding I have to say it's looking bleak. cider77 - 21 Aug 2013 12:15 |
"Ale House" with no, well, ale! OK, fizzy Sam Smiths but nowt else. Shame, as it is a lovely interior. curioushistory - 26 Jan 2012 11:35 |
