full of would be yummy mummys who are to drunk to look after their kids, who the run out into the street in front of my car on more than one occasion,i drive past at 2mph and am very aware of the accident waiting to happen. the pub is an improvement on the buccaneer but so is a leper colony.prices are to dear for averge food and poor selection of beers. this pub should be my local, but isnt. samvimes - 18 Apr 2008 21:29 |
Got invited here a little while back for a birthday party. It's miles away from where I live but I was impressed the minute I walked in. It's like a little secluded Thai bar you would find on a beach somewhere. The food was stunning, much nicer than you could expect from a bar and the service was top notch. It's a nice pleasurable environment, a breath of fresh air, separate from your average boozer. Besides, there is a GORGEOUS barmaid working there, that's all I nededed to complete my night! I could never make my mind up about this place when I lived in Kensal Green. It always seemed a bit vapid to me, although it's inoffensive enough and the staff are reasonably friendly. It is expensive, though, and the Mason's Arms has a much better vibe. Average, I'd say - not bad, but not great either. kidpaprika - 13 Sep 2007 12:54 |
Although I have to agree about the food which is massively over priced and too fancy (for example there is no Sunday roast or fry up option in the morning, being instead replaced with confit of duck cooly with a medly of asapagus parcels wrapped in a trouts gills, ok, I maybe made that up but you get the picture) the place is really chilled out and a good atmosphere. I think the inside is nice and just about right, not too themed or fancy, just a nice place to have a drink. And the outside area is a real winner in the summer. The staff are really friendly and never had any problems with the service. If you want the classic pub experience though go to the Masons Arms near the tube station at kensal Green. This too has a great outside area and its a bit cheaper too. Both good pubs and my 2 locals. Woah! anonymous - 8 Aug 2007 13:35 |
I went here recently and paid 12.50 for a glorified sea food pasta (in the bar, not the restaurant). Big plate, small mound of pasta in an average tomato sauce with five mussels placed around the edges. I left feeling like i had just been mugged! jonnybebad - 30 Jul 2007 22:32 |
