According to its website, the Swan is a historic 14th century coaching inn once accommodating Dick Turpin but the Grade 2 listing describes it as late C16 or C17 with later alterations and it was apparently licensed in 1790. Whatever its age, this is a nice black-and-white roadside pub serving good homemade food at very reasonable prices (albeit quite slowly). My pint of Ludlow Gold cost £4.30 which I thought was also a good price so I stuck with it without trying the Wye Valley Butty Bach or HPA. paul_d102 - 2 Mar 2025 20:30 |
The Swan was our final port of call yesterday. Another roadside pub on a B road. Whilst I think they'd stopped serving food, this felt very much like a pub whose business is based around dining. It was busier than other pubs we'd been to and probably supports the local drinkers too. Ales were Ludlow Gold, Wye Valley Butty Bach & Hobsons Twisted Spire. A comfortable pub that is worth stopping at if passing by. blue_scrumpy - 18 Apr 2016 20:52 |
The family run Swan, which is claimed to be the oldest pub in Shropshire, is located in the attractive village of Aston Munslow on the B4368 road from Craven Arms to Much Wenlock. We called in for a lunchtime pint on our way home from a lovely short break near Ludlow. The Swan proved to be an excellent choice. It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, the staff are genuinely very welcoming and there is a selection of local ales. My two pints of Hobson's Town Crier were in absolutely tip-top condition. This is a pub that deserves to succeed BIG time .... steve2905 - 22 Apr 2015 05:16 |
Went here for food last night, lovely simple well cooked food and plenty on your plate, plus some great Hobson's beer. It is such a lovely old place (dates back to the 1350's) with lots of little rooms and a nice garden too. ThePrincess - 30 Aug 2008 15:29 |
visited this pub on a saturday evening for a meal. Juke box was on very load, it seems to be the local haunt for teenagers all sitting on the pool table smoking, when i reminded them of the new smoking laws i was laughted at and then ignored, bar staff seemed uninterested. enviropc - 27 Apr 2008 15:39 |
