Unfortunately closed again, and up for sale (375,000) due to the 'ill health' of the owner. What a shame. Any lottery winners out there who would like to buy it? - it was a regular outlet for Yeovil Ales, and trade was building up well. Hopefully there might be a happy ending! beerpilgrim - 26 Jun 2011 23:06 |
Have now tried the Sunday lunch. Very good portion, and well presented. There were 4 Yeovil beers on (Glory, Stargazer, Summerset and the gloriously strong Posh IPA). See they also do Fish and Chips on Friday for 6.50, which includes a pudding. Trade, particularly in the evening, is building up well. Give it a try - you won't regret it! beerpilgrim - 20 Oct 2010 14:23 |
Right met the new tenants (well, there parents at least!!). Yeah, all looking a lot brighter for the great old pub. I tried 'Yeovil Ales - Glory' and I have to say all good on that front. This unit is still in need of some good cosmetic 'surgery' to the inside to bring it back to it's 1980's 'hey day' standard. Need good furnishings and a carpet on the flood to 'warm it up'. This house has the greatest potential of all the pubs in Yeovil's town centre. But, yeah,I do like it....a lot!!! On another note, for any 'paranormal' fans out there, ask them about the 'unexplained going on's' upstairs. Like the footsteps in the dead of night walking the hallway. The strange knockings on the doors. The proding when lying in bed and the disappearing items in the upstairs kitchen (that reappear when you go back for another look!!). I can vouch for all this. I lived in the Wine Vaults for awhile in the late 1980's and it all happend to me. If anyone wants to drop me a line (via this site) about any of this please feel free. This pub is one that needs to reclaim it's title as the 'best in Yeovil'. Good luck to the new operators. I will be back when I'm next in your town. wolvesfan - 17 Oct 2010 10:20 |
Whilst I'm on the subject, this is the pub where I met the afore mentioned 'Karen' !!! Haven't been in since the recent change on owners, but I will be back soon to report. Hopefully 'all good'. wolvesfan - 8 Oct 2010 20:19 |
