Only been here once, clean bar but horribly expensive. Service not that great for the cost of a beer here thaiscubadiver - 19 Mar 2011 22:08 |
This small bar is open to the public, but after my brief visit to check the place out I will not be returning as like most hotel bars it is bland, clinical and very expensive. The barman had a basic grasp of English and kept disappearing for minutes at a time leaving people standing at the bar. There not a great drinks selection as only Becks Vier, Stella, Guinness and Boddingtons Extra Cold are available. I only popped in as I saw the sign outside advertising Sky Sports and although they do have a plasma screen that does indeed show Sky I wouldnt want to watch a match in here as there would be no atmosphere and I would end up walking out penniless. Ill leave this place to the hotel guests in future. Strongers - 2 Dec 2009 15:34 |
This is a bit of a gem near the station, the area is pretty horrible, there isnt anywhere to meet for a quiet drink, this bar comes in very handy at times... Perfect place to meet your mistress! johnnypaleale - 23 Nov 2009 16:13 |
This is very expensive and very smokey! It is a lovely hotel, maybe not for a big drinking session, but a few quiet ones before catching the train home, or going out, a good option! ultress22 - 27 Jul 2006 14:06 |
There is one quiet refuge on the station which 99% of punters would never think of using. Used to be the Harvard Bar in the Grosvenor Hotel but the branding consultants have gratuitously renamed it all. Very comfortable, leather seats, wood panelling, rowing theme, not changed in years so doubtless the refurbishers are waiting in the wings. Eyewateringly expensive, as London hotel bars are, no real ale, rich tourists to laugh at, but for all that a very pleasant oasis if you've got half an hour to kill. Contrast and compare with the Wetherspoons! nickdavies - 6 May 2006 10:58 |
