Not a pub you'd pick at random to stop at but we visited on the strength of these reviews. I can't say we were dissapointed. It's not a classic 'olde worlde' pub but it has personality. And the food could not be faulted one bit. mralistair - 13 Jan 2009 22:24 |
Made a detour on our way home from a short break in York to have lunch at the Shireoaks, which was an ideal way to end to the holiday. The staff are so nice and the meal and the beer were excellent. I didnt recognise either of the two micro breweries whose ales were available, but Im not an expert on micros. The landlord of the Shireoaks obviously is an expert, but more to the point, hes an expert at keeping his beers in perfect condition. It was definitely worth the extra petrol and another 10/10 steve2905 - 9 Oct 2007 00:33 |
Based on the previous very positive reviews and its high rating, we decided to call in the Shireoaks for lunch whilst visiting Worksop today and were not disappointed. The place is a gem. Choice of two handpulls from local micros ... the one I had was superb. The quality of our meals was excellent ... and very good value for money. In spite of being busy (the locals obviously know a good thing when they see one) the service was quick and the staff nice and friendly. Definitely 10/10 ... I just wish I could give it more ... steve2905 - 13 Sep 2007 00:50 |
A bit of an "old man's pub". But really freiendly people, great quizes, pool table, sky sports on the big screen. Decent beer, reasonable prices. What more could you want? The management and staff are brilliant too, Oh and they never seem to close ever which is a bonus! If you are eating out in town, but want to get away from all the chav's. Then this little pub is great. DjGaz - 14 Nov 2006 13:03 |
A lovely friendly pub close to the market in Worksop. Does a couple of real ales which change regularly - both in really good condition when we called. The food looked great too so we stayed for lunch. Good sized portions of well cooked, very reasonably priced food, and they even did real chips. It was packed with regulars. There's a good sized separate bar away from the dining area for those who hate to see people filling their faces while they slurp. chick - 22 Apr 2006 21:13 |
