My digs for the night (at £159 per room but you do get towels folded in the shape of swans). A quite down to earth bar for ramblers where the Haystacks Gold was in great condition. Visit blogged at http://bit.ly/2qE6XMg Mappiman - 20 May 2017 10:46 |
Opposite the Fish Inn, the Bridge is a very different style hotel & bar with an attractive south facing garden at the rear of the pub facing the small village. 4 ales, all from the immediate local area on the hand pumps, the pumps are in 2 banks of 4 on opposite sides of the bar, one side serving the front area as you enter from the garden and the other serving the larger lounge area. I had a pint of Tram Shed's Mowdy @ 4.0%, a decent pint but quite pricey even for a touristy area. Stopped for a well earned pint before moving on. lezford - 21 Jul 2016 22:36 |
We had a drink here on Saturday after a long walk with our dogs and couldnt fault it. The bar lady was really friendly and even came over and gave our dogs treats. The conniston bluebird was excellent. ian241 - 17 Nov 2014 13:34 |
An inferior range of ale to the nearby Fish although Coniston Bluebird and Aurora were still happily quaffed, this place is superior for food with a sticky toffee pudding special going down well after a fish platter (not including any inhabitants from nearby Buttermere however). As the evening wore on, locals descended with one herdsman complaining of the 2013 sheep blight and the unseasonal cold, while the European barman from the nearby Fish was showing little employer loyalty by taking a night off in here. Good pub in grat location - perfect for a Buttermere pub crawl with er...the Fish being the other pub next door. Pub with 2 bars, one of which of was quite plush and the other more for the walkers. About 6 ales on with usually one from Marstons. Food was also available. Booze_Allen - 10 Apr 2012 11:38 |
