| A comfortable bar in an old Hotel which seems to be able to cater for Tourists and the local farming community. I was rather disappointed to find only Black Sheep (again!) the other two of the three handpumps having nothing displayed. I had a hearty meal of steak pie, chips and mushy peas which was akin to Desperate Dan's cow pie and nearly had me defeated! Good welcome and friendly service with a smattering of locals willing to engage visitors. Well worth a visit - use the bus from Barnard Castle as it is under threat from Mr. Big Society! | An excellent atmosphere in this hotel's pub, and a good selection of beers including Theakston's cask ale, fosters, guinness, kronenberg. A quiz machine & darts are put discreetly away from the bar itself. Friendly staff, dogs welcome, also excellent food. James Alexander - 13 Apr 2006 12:00 |
