This was the second pub I visited in Llanfair Caereinion, after the Black Horse. The Goat was the better of the two pubs, with a better ale selection - Conwy Irish Red, Woods Born 'n' Bred & Dorking Washington Gold. The Goat was very quiet, with only 3 other customers in the bar and a couple sat outside. It still took a while to get served. Seemingly a nice pub. But just like the Black Horse down the road, it was plagued by dozens of flies. Although the Black Horse was slightly worse. Seemingly this village has a fly problem. Incidentally, I had earlier been to the Stumble Inn at Bwlch-y-cibau, which ended up being my favourite pub of the day. I have requested it to be added to the site. blue_scrumpy - 12 Jun 2018 19:40 |
Terrific, characterful old pub with three excellent local real ales, and good quality food at reasonable prices, e.g. Sausage & mash and red cabbage at £7. Eccentric clientele, and great customer service. Highly recommended. Number11 - 16 Apr 2016 14:23 |
Good beer guide regular and deservedly so.Tip top ales. The Black lion has good ales but the goat has the edge. welshboy88 - 21 Aug 2007 17:19 |
Agree totally with the previous comment. I liked this pub the best out of the three in town. Handy for visitors to the nearby steam railway. anonymous - 16 Aug 2006 12:53 |
Old coaching inn with comfortable sofa's & fire in lounge; also pool/games room and good restaurant. Well kept real ale's always available. Good mix of locals and visitors. Dave Plume - 12 Apr 2006 17:29 |
