The newest incarnation of this pub is The New Rambles, or perhaps just Rambles. It has been renovated nicely (except for the toilets). It has only just opened. Went in there on Friday night (DJ night) and there were only a few customers. Less than 5. I really hope it picks up and stays open, because it's a nice place, in a good location (for me at least!). I can't comment on the beer because I had wine, but the wine list was good and reasonable price. They have big TV screens and football was on, but the volume was off and they were playing relaxing background music. The staff was nice and friendly. My low rating is just based on how quiet is was, therefore it didn't have much of an atmosphere. Oh and the toilets aren't nice. Mymble - 7 Sep 2013 12:57 |
Closed a few months ago. Another rubbish lee High Road pub. Good riddance. notrom - 1 Sep 2013 11:14 |
This was shut for around 6 months and has now reopened in early March 2012. The previous landlord said it would never make any money and he was right. I went in there 2 weeks ago and its still a dump. There was one bloke in there on a Saturday night and the atmosphere is dull. Should be closed and demolished to be honest. This is a very basic boozer with a standard draught selection and Oranjeboom available. There is a pool table and a dartboard in the bar area and I also spotted another pool table in the back room that looked like it had been done up for some kind of party. I thought that the governor was nice enough as were the locals who were glued to the racing on Sky during my weekday afternoon visit. I wouldnt go out of my way to drink here again, but I feel that the rather low rating is a little harsh. Strongers - 28 Oct 2009 11:07 |
