We visited during their 2010 May Bank Holiday Beer Festival which featured 25 ales, 6 ciders and a Perry. It looks as if they had at least six regular ales on tap. What an eclectic place - first impressions were a bit off putting - builders rubble in the car park and peel painting. But we ended up staying all night, having had a great time? Beer was top condition, in one part of the pub was an excellent band in the other part of the pub a guy playing acoustic guitar. Each room is best described as "individual" think hotel lobby with loose fittings and bare board floors and high back chairs. Staff friendly but disorganised. But somehow the whole place had a great atmosphere and as I said every beer was excellent. So a real curates egg of a place, when next in the area will have to try it again! By the way the East Yorkshire Bus 78 goes almost by the day back to Hull just after midnight six nights a week! So try the place but have an open mind. cfowler - 8 May 2010 18:52 |
Five well kept cask ales and the usual lagers etc.Tables out in front of the pub and a covered patio area at the back. Food is served from 12 noon to 9pm, every day. Sunday's is a carvery with a choice of 3 roast meats & fresh vegetables. This is a pub for all the family and is 'doggie friendly'. jacknicholson - 2 Jun 2008 12:47 |
Out on the edge of town in peaceful setting. Almost 200 years old, at junction of several footpaths. Loads of parking space. Tables outside too. No traffic - delightful. Bar has lots of nooks and crannies - Pool, darts throw, models of Formula 1 cars (a club meets there each month). Great beer well kept. Restaurant does cabaret at weekends, teatime food during the week, great Sunday lunches. Carvery at main meal times - always good fresh food. This is not a kids pub, its a real British pub for grown ups, been in the same family for over 10 years - and a real jewel. DoctorRadio - 22 Mar 2006 21:56 |
