We sought this pub out for a pint of Arundel Gold because it was listed under Arundel Brewery's outlets. No Gold on the day we went. Also no guest beer. The only real ale was London Pride. Once the barmaid had graciously deigned to interupt her lenghy mobile phone call to serve us we ordered two halves of the Pride. One was OK (if you like Pride). The other half was curiously flat and actually unpleasant. The decor is difficult to describe but I will attempt it. Modern, light, no atmosphere; as close as you could get to a McDonald's Pub. If you like that sort of thing, this pub is just for you. It is, alas not for me. DonneeRascal - 30 Sep 2009 18:43 |
Hi I have a holiday home just down the road from the Lively lady and 'She who must be obeyed' (coming now dear)has always avoided the pub like the plague because the outside looked so 60's and estate like. However we popped in about 5 weeks ago and what a pleasant surprise, a hearty sunday roast of beef or pork for 4.95 and bottled beer at reasonable prices as well, I would recommend it to anybody, there is an extensive menu for those not wanting the roast and a good choice for kids meals. Thanks Shocking Shocking - 24 Oct 2007 09:46 |
I must admit that this was about 5 years ago, but I once popped in here when I was in the area and thought it was pretty much the worst pub I'd ever been too. I was served a very bad-tasting pint of Guinness, and when I told the barman the beer was off and asked for something else, he looked at the long-haired, middle-aged, ageing rocker bar manager (think Saxondale, but more so) who was incredibly rude and effectively told me to "f off". Unless the management's changed, I'd avoid this place like the plague. kidpaprika - 8 Sep 2007 09:23 |
Never eaten here even tho` live two minutes away although I am led to believe its decent. The bar area has been modernised, its got a plasma tv and pool table. I`ve never seen it busy but you always get a warm welcome. Its a shame it looks like a rough estate pub BUT its not bigboy69 - 18 Aug 2007 08:43 |
