Great pub/inn with something for everyone. Oozes ambience - it is nearly 400 years old and has a regular selection of local Cumbrian ales - when we were there there was Hawkshead, Ennerdale, Yates and Keswick beers on offer. Famous for it's pies apparently though we didn't eat here. Definitely the pub to go for if in the Gosforth area. evilfishkiller - 13 Apr 2011 21:17 |
Very interesting old building and a good place to spend some time trying the many ales on offer. Floyd - 31 May 2009 16:13 |
You should go here! GertieGrumbles - 14 Mar 2009 13:15 |
Excellent pub for both food and very much for ales too. Very old building and set in fine surroundings on the edge of lovely Gosforth village and on the very local gateway into the fells and mountains beyond. The management, staff, service and accomodation are very good and in keeping with the olden look. A must for visitors and walkers. Mcloj - 25 Sep 2006 14:33 |
One of the oldest buildings in the area (1658) and with loads of original features. Owner will tell you more! He's keen on real ale and serves local micro's beers, in tiptop condition, under 2 per pint! Interesting food events. GertieGrumbles - 8 Mar 2006 21:16 |
