If I could score this place and 11 out of 10 I would, top notch Stella69 - 31 Mar 2013 10:38 |
A great little hotel and pub. After an exhilarating but freezing Nidderdale walk, a very welcoming place with simple but brilliiant food. The Nidderdale sirloin is to be recommended and check out their bin ends. The breakfast is simply the best we know of. Thorndyke - 4 May 2009 22:50 |
Handsome stone building in almost the last village in beautiful Nidderdale. Unusual panelled entrance corridor leading to a traditionally furnished, comfortable bar with a dining room beyond. Local pictures, maps and lots of brassware decorating the walls. In addition to the usual kegs there are two handpumps with Black Sheep Bitter and an Old Mill beer, both very well kept by a friendly landlord. Also a reasonable selection of malt whiskies. An open fire to warm your bones after winter walking in the surrounding area of outstanding natural beauty. Food and accommodation available but I've tried neither. Very quiet when I visited but frequented by dalesfolk and tourists alike. There is also a rack of walking sticks for sale if required and mercifully no O2 cellphone coverage inside the pub. anonymous - 9 Mar 2009 10:07 |
Excellent country pub. Warm and friendly folks with excellent hearty grub. Peaceful and quiet like the area. A joy to visit for a relaxing pint. SCBlur46 - 2 May 2007 11:56 |
A truly splendid pub which I get the pleasure of visiting once a year. The Black Sheep is like nectar and while the range of food on the bar menu is limited the quality is superb. It's popular with both locals and tourists so it helps to get there early. Clive and family provide a cracking B&B too and the full English breakfast will set you up for the whole day. sharm - 8 Mar 2006 15:40 |
