Apparently this venue (formerly The Black Swan / The Compleat Angler) was a major music venue going back to at least the 1970s and beyond and attracted some top line bands of the time. So as I happened to be in the area this week I visited it and found... a poster saying the place is "temporarily closed" and items of value have been removed from the premises. _grobag_ - 10 Mar 2012 10:44 |

Very good gig venue, and usually has a couple of local beers on handpump (Pale Rider and Moonshine last time I was there). The beer is perhaps a little pricey but still better than most gig venues. valleyofbeer - 10 Aug 2009 16:06 |
Pretty sure this is only open during gigs. Service as good as you could expect, and reasonable beer. More tables than most live music venues, but toilets usually a mess. Has some excellent gigs (Half Man Half Biscuit and The Fall are regulars), but wouldn't recommend it as a pub. SheffieldMickey - 2 Mar 2008 22:49 |
Barely a pub. In fact, not a pub. I've not been during the day, but the music's not great, the floor's sticky, and I don't like the staff. Good arcade machiens and fair outside spaces. sleb - 21 Dec 2007 22:56 |
