Now called The William Garland and a Greene King pub. I'm not a fan of Greene King beer particularly but anyway nice beer garden and a decent convenient stop right by the station. Ou est la gard du nord as they say in France. terenced - 14 Sep 2020 08:27 |
This was the only pub that I passed on an 11 mile walk from Caterham. Saved it till the end, when I got back to the train station. Decent Hogs Back TEA at £3.15 a pint. Typical town centre pub - all meal deals and football. Some photos at my walking blog - http://mappiman.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/090116-surrey-hills-have-eyes.html Mappiman - 17 Jan 2016 12:08 |
Plenty of other pubs nearby, all WithASpoons. This is slightly price disadvantaged. This pub I mean. But higher (and higher) on character, clientele, charm, 'cockney charm' if that's your thing. Take your pick. Like you just don't care. Yeah. albertfox - 9 Dec 2015 12:01 |
Visited here on Sunday 11th October having taken a walk from Kenley to Caterham. We couldn't see any other pubs in the immediate vicinity so decided to give this a try. It seemed a bit like a Wetherspoon's but the food and drink were of course rather more expensive (but not excessively so). Meals (burger of some sort, sausage and mash) were ok but inferior to similar JDW fare. Beer (Hog's Back TEA and Butcombe Haka bitter) was decent. No complaints overall and very convenient for the railway station. beermann - 3 Nov 2015 13:48 |
Generally a local's pub with pleasant staff in a good location near the station. It really is a lager - and Fosters at that - drinkers' pub, but the landlord is doing a really good job of introducing a varied selection of real ales which change regularly. This evening you could choose, I think, from Dark Star Hophead, Clarence & Frederick's APA, Woodfordes Wherry and something else. The quality is also improving as more people drink the cask ale. Long may the progress continue! Chief_Chufty - 11 Sep 2014 22:41 |
