Gastropub in an impressive building dating from 1651. Purity UBU in great condition. Food - expensive and small portions. Steak Sandwich £12.95 and not great value. Visit blogged at http://bit.ly/2LA24Lu Mappiman - 9 Jun 2018 17:20 |
Food-oriented but for all that the food was variable in quality. Lasagne was cold and had to be reheated; other dishes were very good particularly the side dish of curried vegetables. Beer, Purity Pure Ubu was in very good condition. rainlight - 10 Dec 2011 23:43 |
To put the record straight - I have begun to return to this pub. Had a great meal in June and enjoy the atmosphere and subtle music. Fair play. Just one thing. The staff on the whole good - one even remembers my drink - but the management understaff in the daytime and consequently you can end up standing at the bar with no-one in sight for minutes as the staff run about behind the scenes. I have seen people walk out. At the prices charged service should be at a high level. Tancred - 29 Jul 2011 07:11 |
Soul-less gastropub but the food is good. saintontour - 10 Jan 2011 18:16 |
Latest update - my friend complained to the Managing Partner, Martin Nelson, a week ago. No courtesy of an acknowledgement - let alone a proper reply. Says it all really. all about making money - nothing about customer service. This is a pattern that keeps repeating itself at this pub. Will they never learn? This place could be cooking - as it is it's going downhill - again Tancred1 - 11 Feb 2010 10:14 |
