Friendly enough staff ,but we ordered a "curry" The curry was a revelation, obviously there had been mince and tatties at lunch because we had a plate of rice covered with curry flavoured mince (complete with peas). A warmed naan complimented the meal without poppadums Disappointing but would not risk a complicated menu after this Nice pub but no atmosphere, staff outnumbered customers Legionnaire - 23 Apr 2008 10:19 |
A lovely old fashioned pub which has turned one of the bars into a dining room. This means it is very small with only about half a dozen tables quite close together. A varied menu, well cooked and served by friendly staff. It is a Greene King house so the choice of beer is limited but is well attended by locals so always seems to be full. Prices are fair, I had the mixed grill with new potatoes and side salad for 10.95p and then Banana Split for 3.50p, which arrived on a dinner plate and needed to, there was so much of it. A lovely pub, great food and good beer. Not a particularly large range of beers but what they have got is well kept. Staff are very friendly and it doesn't take long to be a "regular face" in there. Massive beer garden which is pretty well kept. Only downside was the loos which are being completely revamped as I write this review. Worth the trip to the pub for a meal and a beer. You will not go hungry in there as the portions are large. Has a late licence on Friday and Saturdays usually but phone ahead to check if you want a late one there. Taxis are about a fiver back to the town. anonymous - 26 Sep 2006 15:47 |
