This pub tries hard to be all things to all people - sports bar with big TV screens downstairs and Thai restaurant upstairs. Greene King 'London' bitter is ok, possibly it's supposed to be a (inferior) copy of Fuller's London Pride. The Thai food was good but the service was rather slow. Atmosphere was pleasant enough, although the plethora of warning signs about not taking drugs in the toilets suggests otherwise - and decidedly off-putting for a family visit. The pub is being run by Steve and Mary who took on the management at the end of November last year. There are still teething problems in certain areas like people trying to contact the pub via phone , the number advertised on web sites and directory enquiries is wrong the correct number is ; 01256 355159. There will be a new menu in place in the near future and they are taking Christmas bookings now . Available from 1st to 25th December inclusive. Give it a try feed back is good . sebary - 13 Oct 2014 18:33 |
A sports bar, very spacious plenty of seating and screens, nice cheerful atmosphere. Can't complain... except not a great deal of beer selection ingers2 - 24 Jun 2013 23:36 |
At the White Hart now (the one on Worting Road). Not a traditional pub - it's a sports pub. Doesn't look bad though (fairly modern) but not much of an atmosphere. Has real ale but only London Pride. They have a Doom Bar tap but the barmaid/landlady said they don't sell enough so they don't have it on! LP was ok though. Food-wise, not a great selection - burger n chips (not homemade), scampi, fish n chips, homemade chilli con carne, homemade chicken curry, sausage n egg, and jacket potato. Thats literally it (plus the usual handful of sides - chips, breaded mushroom, and nachos). All mains for around 5. Ordered the chilli which was bland, at best. I could feel the mild heat of the chillis but there wasn't a lot of flavour, aside from the over salty nachos it came with. In summary, drink here is ok. Food is best avoided as it's cheap but you get what you pay for, unless you have no taste buds. julesnuggy - 24 Mar 2012 17:58 |
